In February 2020 RI received an order from the National Center for Nuclear Research (NCBJ) in Poland for the production of three superconducting accelerator modules. The SRF modules, which will each house two 1.3 GHz 9-cell cavities, will be installed at the free-electron laser PolFEL, currently under construction at NCBJ.
Based on a technology transfer from Helmholtz Zentrum Dresden Rossendorf (HZDR), RI has already produced six similar 1.3 GHz accelerating modules for customers in Great Britain (STFC), Turkey (Ankara University) and Germany (University of Mainz). RI will deliver these turnkey modules with a guaranteed performance for the accelerating voltage and cryogenic losses. In addition, RI team members will install and commission the SRF modules at the NCBJ site located close to Warsaw in Poland.
