In September 2019, RI received new orders from the Canadian Light Source and Pohang Light Source in Korea for the manufacturing of one spare 500 MHz superconducting RF accelerator module for each.
Based on a technology transfer from Cornell University, RI and formerly ACCEL have been producing 500 MHz accelerating modules for synchrotron light sources and other electron storage rings around the world since 1999. The newly ordered modules will be number 19 and 20. They are designed for the acceleration of high current beams of several 100 mA and can deliver up to 250 kW of RF power to the beam.
We deliver these turnkey modules with a guaranteed performance for the accelerating voltage and cryogenic losses. The control and interlock electronics, the cryogenic valve boxes, and the transfer lines are part of the delivery. For the shipping around the globe, RI uses specially designed shock absorbing transport frames, and our team performs both the installation and commissioning of the SRF modules at the customer site.
Our customers in the past include NSRRC for the Taiwan Light Source, Cornell University, Canadian Light Source, Diamond Light Source, Pohang Light Source, Shanghai Light Source and most recently the Brazilian Light Source SIRIUS.
