The courses take place in conference centers in different member states of CERN and consist of a program of lectures and tutorials covering a wide range of general accelerator physics and special courses on topics such as rf for accelerators. This year's summer course on rf for accelerators was held in Denmark from June 08 to 17, 2010, and Hanspeter Vogel, director of RI Research Instruments, was invited to give a lecture on cavity manufacturing.
Following the rf cavity theory discussed in the first days of the school session, Mr. Vogel gave a presentation on fabrication procedures of superconducting rf cavities, starting with the mining of niobium ore until installation of complete superconducting accelerator modules in the customer's laboratories.
The complete presentation can be found here.
